Parents Force 18-Year-Old Daughter Out of Her Bedroom so Her 22-Year-Old Unemployed Brother Can Sleep There Instead

They clearly have a double standard when it comes to their children.

You shouldn't disrupt actual children's lives to accommodate adult children who should be able to take care of themselves. It's one thing to move your family across the country so that you can be closer to other family members. Your kid might not like moving, but they will adjust to their new life faster than you'd think. It's a totally different thing for your adult daughter to want to move back in with you after being kicked out of her old place; that shouldn't be on her terms. She should not be allowed to come into the house and change the way everybody else lives just because she says so. If a parent allows their adult child to do that in their home, then they are a pushover, and they're in for a lot of grief. 

If someone isn't paying the bills, you need strict guidelines about what they are and aren't allowed to do in your house when they're staying for an extended period. You might not think that your friend who is down on his luck is going to take advantage of your kindness, but you couldn't be more wrong about that. If you give an inch, certain people will take a mile, and you don't want your home life to be destroyed by someone who isn't even paying to stay there, even though they could get a job. 

The daughter in this story isn't a child anymore. She's 18, but she's more of a child than her 22-year-old NEET brother, who recently moved back in with their parents. She is on break from school over the summer, and her parents have kicked her out of her own bedroom and put all of her stuff in boxes so that her older brother can sleep there.
